Analyzes pivotal moments in modern and contemporary world history through artistic, literary, and cultural manifestations. Course topics vary with the instructor and may include the rise of nationalism and western democracy, the development of European colonialism, and the social, political, and religious causes of international conflicts from world wars to terrorism.
